어쩌다 보니 뜨거운 것은 가슴속에만 머물렀다가 조용히 가라앉도록 감정을 억누르는 것에 익숙해진 것 같다. 눈물이 왈칵 터지던 어린날에는 감정의 소용돌이에 휘말리지 않고 나만 알 수 있는 정도로 그것을 통제할 수 있기를 바랬건만 이제와 생각하니 날 것 그대로 느끼고 표현할 수 있는 것이 아름답고 건강하다.
마음이 혼란할 때는 좋아하는 책을 들고 좋아하는 부분을 다시 읽는다. 눈시울이 붉어지고 가슴이 뜨거워지며 참았던 감정을 온전히 내보인다.
소박하고 잔잔한 문체에 깃든 강한 힘이 좋다.
그의 글처럼 살고 싶다.
